Life Changes In Feet Not Miles

WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

A Good Ten Years is all about you. It's about the small things you can do to enhance your emotional well-being, your money and your physical health.

For instance:

Feeling down today? When you leave this page, think of somebody you've been meaning to thank, and thank them.

Slightly worried about your physical well-being? Good. AGTY's motto is "Feet not Miles." when it comes to improving your physical health. Like this simple exercise: choose a stationary chair with arms. Try gently getting up and down in that chair without using your arms at all.

Nagged about money? Welcome to the world. AGTY teaches the power of healthy skepticism when it comes to money. A tip for today? Learn about "invasive marketing." If this video doesn't make you slow down your everyday spending, nothing will.

The first mistake you'll make on this page: I live in four countries, in amazing locations. But don't think I'm a rich playboy.

I haven't had a year-round home to call my own since 2017. I struggle with money every month. I now live as the guest of deep friends and family.

I have an extraordinary life due to the enormous generosity of family and friends.

So how did I become homeless? This story ends with a hurricane. I'll tell the full story here.

My life has been very complex. At 84, I haven't even figured out what I do yet.

But I have learned a lot from the people who have shaped me, from homeless people to Lady Gaga to rulers of countries.

And there’s what I learned from a tarantula, too, just last week.

The lessons I’ve learned in life and the mistakes I’ve made may help you tune your day. Maybe not.

You decide.

Life as I have known it

Dropped on my head, and a Superman cape:

Would you like to know the story of your family and friends?

Your friends and family have shaped you life, right?

Wouldn't it be nice to have those stories, all collected, to share with them?

We're going to help you create your friends and family's oral history. And we'll do the heavy lifting for you.

Decades ago, my best friend and I created The Common Ground Book—a look at what our family and friends have in common.

The book was the subject of an NPR special.

My creds when it comes to talking turkey.

For over 50 years, I've been a presence when it comes to consumer issues and healthy living and fighting for happiness. I've been a presence from the Washington Post, to Oprah, to Blue Zones. Want details? Go here.

What's up with Emil?

A 21-year old talks to your kids and grandkids.

Ever worried about you kids or grandkids? How their lives are going?

Why not share good advice with them—but from another young person?

I've had personal assistants for 43 years, starting with Blue Zones Founder Dan Buettner. I've learned from them, they've learned from me.

My 25th P.A. is Emil. Emil is blogging about his experiences with me right here. Share a link to his posts with young people you know. They might like his reports.

Meet Emil:

My name is Emil.

I'm a 21-year-old Danish guy who somehow ended up as the 25th personal assistant to an 84-year-old man who's the busiest guy I've ever met. Leaving my friends, my family, and everything familiar behind, I landed in a country where I didn't know a single person – and stepped straight into Remar's chaotic, yet fascinating life.

Why not support Remar's work with A Good Ten Years and the FoolProof Foundation by making a tax deductible donation.
